Sustainability

🌱 Our Sustainability Initiatives

At Sodexo Campus Dining, we’re proud to support sustainability efforts right here at Cameron University. From waste reduction to eco-friendly dining, here’s how we’re making a difference on campus and beyond.

🧠 SMART Dashboard

Our Sustainability Management and Reporting Tool (SMART) tracks our impact in four key areas:

  • 🌍 Carbon & Energy
  • 💧 Water
  • ♻️ Waste
  • 🍽️ Healthy & Sustainable Food

This tool helps us set goals, measure progress, and continuously improve campus sustainability.

🍃 Composting Food Waste

Did you know food waste in landfills creates methane, a greenhouse gas 21x more potent than CO₂? We prioritize reducing waste and compost unavoidable food scraps, helping to improve soil health and lower emissions.

♻️ Campus Recycling

We recycle cardboard, glass, aluminum, paper, and plastic across campus. To further reduce waste, we:

  • Use paper with recycled content
  • Print double-sided when possible

🧻 Xpress Nap® Dispensers

Our napkins are made from 100% recycled paper, and our smart dispensers help reduce excess use. Less waste, less energy, more sustainability.

💧 APEX Warewashing System

APEX technology improves efficiency in our kitchens by:

  • Reducing water and energy use
  • Tracking operations with real-time data
  • Helping staff reduce waste through smarter dishwashing practices

🚫 Trayless Dining

We’re a **trayless campus **and it’s making a big impact! No trays = less food waste, fewer dirty dishes, less water and detergent used. Bonus: it encourages healthier eating habits too.

🍱 Choose to Reuse

Skip the single-use waste! Our Choose to Reuse container program offers eco-friendly to-go options. Just return, wash, and repeat.

☕ Reusable Cup Rewards

Bring your own reusable cup for coffee or fountain drinks and get a discount at every location every time. It’s better for the planet and your wallet!
